Guanajuato:
If you've been to the hill country in Italy, Guanajuato will seem like déjà vu. Winding streets and surprising vistas are everywhere in this old colonial silver mining city. "La Valenciana," a working silver mine, is one of our stops. Nearby is the exquisite Churrigueresque style church of "San Cayetano" with its 18-karat gold leaf altars. From here we will go to the Teatro Juarez, a turn-of-the-century opera house with interiors inspired by Moorish architecture. If you're interested, we'll explore some fascinating architecture and visit three of the best known potters in Mexico. A leisurely stroll through Guanajuato will bring us to the house of Diego Rivera with a collection of his early work, and also to an incredible market building that looks like an European train station. The Ex-Hacienda "San Gabriel Barrera" and its gardens will give you an idea of life in Mexico in 18th century.
Length of Tour: 8 - 10 hours.
Hola Helene!
I'm so glad to have your email so I could write to tell you how much we enjoyed our day with you! Your love for and wisdom about the life, history, and culture of Mexico is contagious and provided a day filled with lovely, lovely memories! Everything about the day was just perfect....it never felt rushed, yet we were able to see so much, enjoy so much, and drink in the beauty of the day at a pace that was comfortable, exciting, and full of vibrant color and pizzaz!
I look forward to my next trip (and assure there will be many), and calling you again.
